What does the Bible mean and how do I apply it to my life? This is a question being asked by everyone from the most educated theologian to the non-believer. Most worshipers are hoping to find answers to these questions in the pastor’s sermon or in small group Bible studies. These presentations, intended for a broad audience, are usually very superficial. They provide good personal guidance, but teach very little about faith concepts. As Paul indicated in Hebrews 5, mature Christians need solid food.


Where does the person who wants to know more, but doesn’t want to take the time to read serious books or watch hours of lectures go to learn about faith? And, if they do find a resource how do they know it can be trusted?


In the secular world millions of people are being attracted to a set of 10 minute video lectures called TED Talks. In these videos a highly credible, very articulate presenter explains one big idea, at a college freshman level, in about 10 minutes. This popular platform covers topics from how a new test for cancer works to how architectural design fosters community. These talks are beloved because they are short, credible and substantive.


If a similar video platform existed for faith concepts, believers seeking personal growth, the spiritually curious, and Bible teachers would have an easily accessible resource for understanding faith concepts. On this platform a recognized leader in the faith community would concisely explain one faith concept. The viewer would recognize the credibility of the presenter and learn something valuable with an investment of 10 minutes.


In addition to the videos being used for personal growth. This resource would be especially valuable to pastors and Bible study teachers as they prepare their presentations. Just as high school and college teachers currently use TED Talks as conversation starters in their classroom, Bible teachers may incorporate these faith concept videos into their presentations. They would be an effective tool for both personal growth and for preparation.


The internet is awash in videos and many terabytes of Christian videos are available.


What will distinguish this platform is credibility and quality. Presenters will be well recognized for their expertise. The video production will be highly professional. When a viewer comes to the platform they will know that the video and the information is quality.  


The topics will focus key concepts in the Bible. They may include contextual factors like Biblical History and Archaeology. While other academic disciplines are a part of any in depth study, this platforms guiding principles will be personal growth and teaching preparation.


Numerous Christian perspectives will be welcome. Videos will be “tagged” to allow the viewer to select their own track. If the viewer wants to see multiple perspectives on a single topic they will be easily found. If the viewer prefers to only view material from one specific perspective that track will be readily available. This approach allows a broad audience to find what they are seeking in terms of personal growth or preparation.


A project like this only succeeds if God is the inspiration and if his people catch the vision. This concept has been presented to several theologians representing various Christian faith perspectives and multiple technologists. Their enthusiasm for the project suggests this is divinely inspired. Several have already signed on to participate in one manner or another.
